How to get in Ghent

Ghent is a major town in Belgium and can be reached easily by car, train and airplane.

If you come by air through Brussels International Airport, you can take a direct train to Ghent (0h57) at the airport. Brussels has direct air line connections with most major cities worldwide.

If you come by air through Charleroi (Brussels South) Airport, take the shuttle bus or a taxi to the Charleroi Sud train station, from which you can take a train to Ghent (1h37).
Charleroi Airport can be reached by low cost carriers from Budapest, Carcassonne, Dublin, Girona, Glasgow Prestwick, Milan - Orio al Serio, Pescara, Pisa, Rome – Fiumicino, Shannon, Stockholm Skavsta, Valladolid, Venice and Warsaw.

High speed trains from Germany, the Netherlands, France and UK (London) arrive in the Brussels South station, where you can take a direct train to Ghent (0h36).

Trains in Ghent arrive in the main railway station (Sint Pieters) from which you can take a taxi or tram to your hotel.

The Conference Building

VSMM2005 will take place in the Flanders Expo conference Center, which has an excellent and direct tram connection (line 1) to the city centre and the Sint Pieters railway station, there is a tram every 7,5 minutes. Flanders Expo provides also free parking facilities at the Conference Centre.

Accomodation

The VSMM2005 conference secretariat has allocated rooms at reduced rate in a range of hotels in the city centre and in the Holiday Inn hotel at the Conference Centre. Please mention that you are attending the VSMM2005 conference.

Feel free to book your hotel room directly. All hotels have an easy connection to the Conference Centre by public transport (except the Holiday Inn UZ). If you need any assistance, please contact the conference secretariat.

Holiday Inn GENT-EXPO
The Holiday Inn Gent Expo is situated at the crossing of the E17 (Amsterdam-Paris) and the E40 (Liege-Brussels-Ostend) motorways, exit Expo. The hotel is located on the grounds of the Flanders Expo exhibition centre where the conference will take place, and is at walking distance from the conference rooms. The historic centre of Ghent is within easy reach by car or public transport.
